I painted this scene in 2022 when I was dogsitting in McLean, VA. I was attempting a 30 day plein air challenge called Plein Airpril to encourage myself to paint outside more. I made it to 18 paintings, which was still no small feat! While I was painting this on the sidewalk, this group of people came out of the house to my right after a dinner party and started to get angry at me for being there. I guess they thought I was doing something illegal or suspicious? But I had every right to be on the sidewalk. When I told them I was painting on public property, they realized they couldn't be mad at me and awkwardly backed off.
